Shiplap

Shiplap is primarily used for exterior siding for homes, barns, and sheds.  Shiplap provides great protection from the elements since they are designed to overlap and then snap into place together.  Due to how these boards link together, they create the illusion that there is space between the wooden boards, however, the siding is completely sealed and provides great protection.

Shiplap’s aesthetic look has made it become more popular to use as interior siding.  Depending on how you place the shiplap there may be effects on how you view your room. If the shiplap is placed horizontally, it will make the room seem larger than it really is.  If the shiplap is placed vertically, the room may seem taller.  This versatility is what makes shiplap ever more popular as a go-to interior siding.
